Week 32

L. Arts:
Mali- I did a lesson in All About Reading. I read all ten mini books in one of my sets one day. I practiced words with SH/CH/TH.

Max- I did some lessons. I started Ricky Ricotta’s Mighty Robot vs the Uranium Unicorns from Uranus.

Math:
Mali- did subtraction story problems. Reviewed making 10 with the math blocks.

Max- did more ordering of numbers between 10-20. Finished chapter 7 in my workbook.

Science:
we learned about the Bonneville Salt Flats and went on a field trip there. It was really neat.
History:
we learned about the story of Romulus and Remus and the founding of Rome. We also learned about how Rome didn’t want to have one person be too powerful so they set up having two consuls who shared power and we’re supposed to keep each other in check.
Music:
We did another Marco Polo class this week. We practiced playing the dinosaur song on our bells. We identified the note patterns without the pictures that go along with them.

Tech (Engineering):
We built some Lego sets. We got a new Spider-Man mech suit set. We also combined some old sets we had to make some new stuff.
Max- I built a lego squid set.
Mali- I sewed some scrunchies with Mom.

We got a new game and it is really fun

M&M Week 31

L. Arts -
Mali- I learned the phonograph “CH”. I did an activity with a mouse gathering cards with a picture of cheese on them and different CH words. I did some Reading Eggs.
Max- I did some lessons in my language arts program. I wrote some sentences. I read some poems.

Math-
We learned about exponential growth. Mom gave us an example if she gave us 1 cent on the first day of the month and then doubled that each day. By the end of the month it was up in the millions. We played games, include Buy It Right, Exploding Kittens, and Yahtzee.
Mali- I did some number bond/subtraction problems in my workbook. I also did some Dreambox activities.
Max- I did a lot of Dreambox. Some of the activities were about sorting shapes based on their characteristics. Other ones had doing leaps of a certain number to get to a target number, like how many leaps of 9 does it take to get to 27.

History-
We didn’t have a history lesson this week, but we did celebrate Mister Rogers’ birthday and watch Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood and have cupcakes. He is a key figure in history so that can count.

Science-
For science this week we did some of the missions with our Turing Tumble. We also learned about the coronavirus and how soap is really good at killing it if people wash their hands thoroughly. We also did some snap circuits, which maybe also counts as engineering/tech.

Music:
Our teacher recorded the lesson and we watched it at home via Marco Polo. We played the “leaps” on our bells of Froggy Went a Hoppin’. We identified the different note lengths of the animal steps for the Jungle Rhythm song. One elephant step equals two lion steps, four monkey steps, or eight cicada steps.

Engineering (Tech):
We got a Marble Run set that works with Duplos so we built a couple of different marble runs. Mom helped with one and our brother Clive helped with another. We also did some sewing to make bottle carriers for our water bottles for when we go on hikes.

We are doing the Great Provo Scavenger Hunt and one of the challenges was a stack of pennies at least
30 pennies tall
