Week 35

L. Arts:
Max- I started the next Ricky Ricotta book, which is vs the Naughty Nightcrawlers. I also did some handwriting and some lessons in my lesson book. I am trying out a computer program called Raz kids and read some stories on there.

Mali- I am trying out the Nessy program on the computer to see if I like it. I like it okay so far. I did some spelling of my words I’m working on with the wooden letters. I read a few stories in my lesson reader.

Math:
Max- I did Dreambox lessons on subtracting 3 digit numbers by finding “friendly” numbers to subtract. I also practiced subtraction under 20. We made spinners and spun them to make addition problems.

Mali- I played the spinner game with Mom and Max. I did some Dreambox lessons too and a little bit in my workbook.

Science:

we learned about how even toasting bread and cooking causes chemical reactions which is how it changes the flavor. Toasting other things, especially things like coffee and cocoa beans, really makes a big difference in the flavor.

History:
We learned about the Indus Valley people. We learned a little about their beliefs as well, and also the origin story of Siddhartha who became Buddha.

Music:
We had a class over Marco Polo. Our homework page was to put the right notes in the chord triangles. We practiced the dinosaur song and also Do-Mi-Mi.

Tech:
Mali- I did a lot of sewing this week. I made monsters for my friends who came back from 6 months in Brazil this week. I also made Max a penguin. I did all those by hand. Mom helped me with the big sewing part of the penguin and sewed that part on the machine. She and I also sewed me a beanie frog. I named him Clerken after one of my favorite songs, Bathtime in Clerkenwell.

Max- We went and flew a kite at the park. We learned a bit about how kites fly and also had to do some minor repairs on our kite because one of the sticks poked out the end. Flying the kite was really fun.

(Some pics are from weeks 33/34 because we ran out of time to get them on our blog before.)
