L. Arts:
MAX: I read the next Ricky Ricotta book about Voodoo Vultures from Venus. I did lessons in my language arts course book. I practiced sight words ladders.
MALI: I read several mini books. I practiced flash cards. I did some Reading Eggs.
Math:
MAX: I did a bunch of Dreambox. I did workbook pages about shapes. I made pictures with shapes.
MALI: I did Dreambox lessons. I did some shapes pages in my workbook. I did some subtraction pages in my workbook as well.
Science: In marine biology we learned about tides today. We learned about high and low tide, made a little example with sand and water and made waves to see how animals get to tide pools, and what high and low tide look like. We looked at shells and made guesses at what kinds of animals lived in the shells and why they would leave their shells. We talked about Benthic animals (ones that walk on the sand in the water) and Pelagic animals (ones that swim in the ocean). We reviewed that different animals live in different levels of the ocean as well depending on how much light they need
History: We learned about Cyrus the Great. We also watched some youtube videos about different myths in history. Some facts about Cyrus the great aren’t confirmed but one legend is that his grandfather dreamed his grandson would grow up and overthrow him, so he tried to have him killed. the guy who was in charge of killing him didn’t want to, though, so he handed him off to another guy to kill, and that guy took him home to his wife and they raised him as their son. And he grew up and did end up overthrowing his grandfather anyway.
Music: We are practicing note rhythms with pictures/names of bugs. We sang a funny song called Bill Grogan’s goat.
Tech (Engineering): We did patterns on our rubberband boards. Also there is a new exhibit at Thanksgiving Point and they had some interesting things about simple machines and other stuff.
