Week 24

 In Geography we learned about Spain and Portugal. We went and jumped a couple of times at Lowes Xtreme Air Sports. 

Max: I got an awesome Lunar Space Station lego set this week and I built it. I think it might be my biggest or one of my two biggest lego sets ever. It had 500 pieces. I am reading the comic series Spidey. In Math I learned about Roman Numerals and positive and negative numbers. We had some people over to play board games which was fun. 

Mali: I went skiing with my brother, my dad, my grandma and my uncle. In Math I started division. I did my language arts writing and reading. I am still reading The Wild Robot. We finished the read aloud book my mom was reading to us at night, which is Matilda. We are going to watch the movie versions soon. I practiced drawing things from real life (see pictures below).

Week 23

 Max: I finished up the Weekly Revision reviews for 4th grade and started on the 5th grade math curriculum. I did a pretest to see which areas of the first unit I need to do the lessons for.  I read some Spider-Man comics. I started piano lessons with a new teacher this week. I haven't done music lessons since I finished with Let's Play Music last May. We went and jumped at Lowes Xtreme Air Sports. We learned about Scandivania. 

Mali: I did a lot of drawings this week. In Math I finished up multiplication. My poem for the week was A Wise Old Owl. I did explode the code. I am still reading The Wild Robot. We went and jumped at Lowes Xtreme Air Sports. We learned about Scandivania.

Week 22

 Max: This week I did some geography quizzes for the areas of the world we have finished learning about. In math I am about finished with the 4th grade stuff so I am doing some review right now to make sure I remember the stuff I have covered. I wrote a paragraph about a couple of things I got for Christmas. We went to Lowes Xtreme Airsports to jump. I played chess with my brother. We played Photosynthesis. We also played Jenga. I finished the book I was reading. I liked it and learned a lot about flight. 

Mali: This week I got a new video editing app called CapCut. It is fun. I made a lyrics video to a song that I like. I did a lot of drawings. I started reading the book "The Wild Robot." I like it so far. I did language arts lessons. I am working on long multiplication in math. It is tricky to keep all the steps straight and remember the right order to do things but I am getting the hang of it with mom's help. I went to Lowes to jump one time but didn't feel good the other times so my brothers went without me.

Weeks 19-21

  Over Christmas break we went to the Angkor Watt exhibit at the Natural History Museum of Utah up in Salt Lake. It was a really neat exhibit with lots of cool artifacts. We learned about how they have used something like sonar from airplanes to be able to see through the jungle that has overgrown the area to get a better idea of what the compound used to look like. 

We got jump passes to Lowes Xtreme Air Sports and went jumping a few times. It is fun. We can jump for up to two hours every day. 

As part of our Winter Solstice celebration we do a candle walk.
