Max - Week 37

In science we learned about lakes.

In math we reviewed diagonals and vertices and learned about greater than/less than. We did a worksheet page and also a math journal page to practice.

I practiced correctly using homophones in sentences. Too/two/to and see/sea. I practiced my spelling words. The trickiest ones are ANSWER and BECAUSE but I have learned them now.

Mali - Week 37

I read the little reader book Birds. I picked that one because we have so many birds visiting our feeder. This last time we refilled it, they emptied it in less than 2 days.

I am still working on my silent e practice lists in Toe By Toe.

Mali - week 36

For Earth Day we went to Utah Lake and fed the ducks and cleaned up trash.

In math we learned about diagonals and vertices on polygons.

We had music class this week. It was parent class so mom came with us.

In science we learned about groundwater and watersheds of rivers.

Our cousins came to visit for a little bit and my mom let us all sit on the Jeep

We saw goslings at the lake!

In science this week we learned about aquifers and caves. Groundwater is the biggest source of liquid freshwater on earth.

We learned more about Senegal in geography this week. We watched the Geography Now video about it.

We got a new game called Blockhead which is fun. You can play it by yourself, too, just trying to stack all the blocks.

I finished the next Bone book. I think it was the 6th book.

Mali - Weeks 34-35

In science we learned about identifying rocks. Did you know that a glacier can technically be classified as a rock?

We also learned about the currents that love water around the world. It takes about 1000 years for water to flow all around the whole earth. It moves about 1cm/second in the currents.

I made a comic strip. I finished my silent E nonsense words page in my Toe By Toe book.

Max - Weeks 34-35

We went to This is the Place Heritage Park. We got their yummy donuts and raspberry jam and chocolate sauce to dip them in. We spent a while in the saddle makers shop and learned how they turn cowhide into leather.

We also went to the Salt Flats. We launched model rockets. One broke on a rough landing when the parachute didn’t come out and we lost another one because it went way too high. It was fun. We also made a fire and roasted hot dogs and s’mores. We got a couple of RC cars and drove those around as well which was really fun.

We also got some foam gliders but the salt flats were too windy to use them. We took them to a park a few days later and flew them and they were a lot of fun.

We got a new game called Skyjo. It is good for addition/subtraction practice and pretty fun. The first time we played I got the worst cards of anyone playing so I definitely lost.
