Mali - Week 30

My favorite thing I did this week was make a Solar System. I did it while we were learning about the Solar System for science class. The next day I made a bunch of puppets that go along with the different planets and I put on a play.

I also did math and reading and history this week. I had music class and practiced my songs.

I also got together with my friend Beatrice and our moms helped us with a sewing project. We made pillowcases with pockets.

Playing Go to the Dump to practicing making 15s

Our pillowcases. Mine is just the right size, which is good, because we
weren't sure what size my pillow was.

Max - Week 30

In Science this week we started learning about geology and we also learned about the solar system. I really like learning about space so I already knew a lot of the facts we went over. We found a cool NASA website and I had fun exploring the different things on it about the solar system.

In history we learned about the Turks conquest of Constantinople and how it was renamed Istanbul.

I read more of Bone book 5. I did my language arts lessons.

Here is an app that I finished coding. Narwhals Love Donuts

We did some math lessons and worksheets. We also played a new version of Go To the Dump to make 15s. We played Racko and Clumsy Thief.

We went on a bike ride along the river trail and had fun climbing around a giant fallen tree.

For Daddy Fun Time we got to go to the All Abilities Playground in Orem. We hadn't been there in a while and it was fun.

Mali and I made these aliens out of legos.

Building numbers with the abacus.

Cool big fallen tree

I made an About Me booklet for language arts

Max - Week 29

This week I finished reading Bone book 4. I started Bone book 5.

In math we learned about number pairs that equal 100. We also learned about digits and right triangles. We played Trouble, Clumsy Thief Junior, Clumsy Thief Candy Shop, and Racko.

We got the PlusPlus pieces we ordered so I was able to build the Quicksilver that I wanted to make. One of the sets was a dinosaur so I built that, too, by following the directions.

I worked on BitsBox this week. I will share one of my new apps next week for my learning log.

Mom got me a turtle figurine and I love it. Eventually I am going to get a real tortoise for a pet but for now I am having fun playing with this guy. I even took him to church.

I was exploring on Google Earth and I found this big group of penguins. I love penguins!

Three of our chickens started laying eggs this week!

Racko!

We built different rectangles with these papers

This rectangle used all five of the smaller ones

We learned about right triangles.

They have one 90 degree angle (perpendicular)

We found all the capital letters that have perpendicular lines in them

I made a tangram square

Mali punched out around this penguin picture for me

We used solar paper to make these pictures. Mine is an abstract penguin

Quicksilver!

Mali - Week 29

This week my favorite thing I did was to make stop motion videos with the Stop Motion Studio app. I made one with my mom, one with my brother Clive, and then a couple on my own. The one with my  mom tied in with my reading practice, as I was working on AR words. I got my hand in a few frames but oh well.

I got to go skating quite a few times this week. One day we went to Lakeview Park by our house and had a picnic lunch. It was nice!

I read quite a few stories for practice from the Run, Bug, Run reader. I have read them all before but its good practice.

We learned about right triangles in math this week

and made some with tangrams

Made different sizes of rectangles with these pieces

We got some solar paper and exposed it . I like the "shadow"

Week 28 - Mali

One day this week I read all 10 of the little reader books in a set. I kept working on my Toe By Toe lessons. I did some handwriting and some Explode the Code.

The best thing this week was sewing chickens! I had a craft in mind that I made but it didn't turn out like I wanted to. My mom helped me look for something else to do and we found these fun beanbag chicks. I ended up making quite a few, including three for my friends. We had a lot of fun making them. We even went to another friend's house and taught her and her mom how to make them. There was quite a bit I could do to make them, but my mom helped me with some parts. On Saturday we made a big chicken for me. My mom had already tried out the pattern earlier in the week.

I learned about quadrilaterals in math. We practiced our doubles and making ten facts. We also learned a new math game called Zeus on the Loose.

My friend Jane got roller skates which is great because now I have a friend to roller skate with.

In History we learned about Marco Polo and the Silk Road.  We also finished watching the video series about Genghis Khan that we started last week.

In Science we learned more about the atmosphere and the Ozone layer. We started an experiment of growing seeds in jars. We are growing one in natural light and one with only artificial light.

I arranged these tiles during math 6+2=8

Week 28 - Max

This week a thing I had a lot of fun playing with was our PlusPlus blocks. I built a lot of different things. We don't have any good skin colors in our set, though, so we found a couple more sets to order so I can make people with skin colored faces.

This week I worked on my lessons. In math we learned about quadrilaterals. They have four sides and they have to have straight lines and be a closed shape. We practiced our doubles and making ten facts. We also learned a new math game called Zeus on the Loose.
