M&M Week 30

Math:
MALI - I did lots of patterns on Dreambox. They are fun activities.

MAX - I had a bunch of categorizing shapes activities into venn diagrams on Dreambox this week. Sorting between ones that have parallel or perpendicular lines, closed shapes, polygons.

L. arts:
MALI - I did a lesson in All About Reading. We split it up over a couple of days. It included two new stories in my reader.

MAX - i did the next lessons in my language arts program. I started reading Ricky Ricotta’s Might Robot vs the Stinkbugs from Saturn.

History:
We learned about some ancient people of the Americas. We learned about the Nazca lines and the giant Olmec heads.
Science:
We went to the aquarium this week for science. We learned about turtles in our marine biology class.

Engineering (Tech):
we built stuff out of Duplos. We had fun building things for a new Duplo penguin I (Max) got this week.

MALI - I used some cardboard boxes to built a robot suit.

Music:
we played a scrunchie game. We pulled a humongous scrunchie with the beat of the music. We also used the scrunchie to play Frog In The Middle.

M&M Week 29

Music:
Our homework was to listen to Triumphant March and fill in the missing themes with the pictures. At class we listened to the Froggy Went A Hoppin' song and got to hop around like crazy frogs. It was fun.

History:
We learned about Alexander the Great. He conquered the largest area anyone ever had up to that point. He became the ruler at age 20 and died at age 32, and he spent most of those years conquering territory with his army. We also went to UVU and saw the Roots of Knowledge stained glass window. It is really neat and has so many things in history. We saw quite a few people and places that we have learned about. It was fun to spot modern things that we recognized in the windows as well.

Science:
we learned about the spine and made a model of a spine using string, spools, and gummy life savers. The life savers represented the discs that are made of cartilage and are between the vertebrae so they don’t get worn down. We watched BrainPop videos on the spinal cord and the nervous system.

L. Arts:
MAX - I did the Unit Assessment for Unit 1. I did really good with all of the reading but need more practice on most of the spelling words. I read some stories from the reader.
MALI - I did Reading Eggs lesson 67. I did some flash cards for words and phonograms. I read the story Bam.

Math:
MAX- i did dreambox lessons. One was on combining numbers to equal 200. My workbook pages were on numbers between 11-20.

MALI- I did dreambox. More with greater than/less than, and also adding doubles to help solve problems that are doubles plus one, like 6+7. My workbook pages were on fact families.

Tech (Engineering):
MAX - i built more penguins out of our number cubes. We made coral reefs in our science class. I built some structures with our base ten blocks as well.

MALI - I made a bunch of creatures out of pipe cleaners to add to my coral reef from co-op class. I made pipe cleaner people, too, and a rock band. I also made several paper masks.
